Last month over 600 people participated in Chicago's 4th annual World
Naked Bike Ride—way to go!
Several people were talking at, and after, the ride about other naked
events. These kind of events are relatively rare around Chicago, but
they do happen. One problem is that they are often either poorly
publicized or spontaneously thrown together at the last minute (which
is fine, but means you often only hear about them after the fact).
So I started a new Yahoo group to exchange news, ideas and info about
Chicago area clothing optional events.
You can find the new group in Yahoo groups at chicagoclothingoptionalevents
There already are at least 2 nudist organizations in Chicago (the
Chicago Bares, which is oriented for gay men, and the Chicago Sun
Club, which tends to include older people.) But there are also a
number of informal nude gatherings and happenings, such as last
January's Lady Godiva ride in Wicker Park. I'm hoping that news about
such nudist events can spread through this group.
A few other thoughts:
This is NOT meant to be a swinging or sex group—go to Craigslist for
that. I've been to two nudist colonies and a number of nudist events
and have never even SEEN, much less participated in, any sexual
activity at such gatherings. If that's what you're looking for, I
suggest you find another group.
This is also not meant for gawkers or photographers to get a line on
where and when to see a free show. It's intended to be a group for
nudists to publicize naked and clothing optional events, and meet
like-minded people.
So if you're interested, or have info about local nude or clothing
optional events, please join this group post away! If you're spamming
or looking for sex or free shows, please don't bother.

P.S. I'm not convinced this group will really take off—I'll give it
six months, and if it seems like there aren't any "real" nudists
joining or naked events being discussed then I'll close the group.
